Welcome to Ali's Menagerie!

Ali's Menagerie began as a little project to kill some of the huge excess of time many of us faced during the devastating global pandemic back in 2020. From a social media account posting the occasional picture of my own animals, I developed this website to focus more on their specialised care, something I have become deeply passionate about. Alongside my career in zookeeping I have continued to nurture this passion into various published works both on and off this site, with a focus on science-led evidence-based husbandry to ensure the greatest standards of animal welfare are available to all.

My home collection itself started humbly with the typical domestics, and a few fish, and evolved rapidly into a thriving menagerie of some of the natural world's most enchanting creatures. From Lesser Tenrecs- the elephant's Madagascan cousin- to one of South America's most dangerous amphibians, the Poison Dart Frog, I now share my life with almost 40 different exotic species. Join me on my mission to educate and inspire, and learn how we can all ensure we're doing our very best for our animals through my comprehensive guides. Enjoy exploring My Menagerie...

Please note: Here at Ali's Menagerie, I am NOT an expert, nor do we claim to be. This website is simply my knowledge of the species that I look after to help others. When writing each of my pages I utilise several years of knowledge of each species, as well as using studies of natural history and habitats. I would always recommend using several sources when looking into a new animal.
